Jools is a founding Board Director and Therapeutic Services Director at Sense Inclusion. She plays a key role in shaping the organisations strategic direction, service development and quality of therapeutic provision, ensuring its growth remains grounded in the developmental needs of the children, young people and families.
Alongside her organisational responsibilities, Jools leads the development, quality and oversight of therapeutic practice at Sense Inclusion. She supports staff development, provides clinical supervision, reflective practice and embeds therapeutic, trauma-responsive approaches across the team.
Jools is a Play and Creative Arts Therapist with more than 20 years’ professional experience supporting children and families across educational, therapeutic settings and private practice. Before qualifying as a therapist, she held a variety of school-based roles including HLTA, pastoral support, speech and language support, and specialist SEN support.
Jools holds a First-Class Degree in Children’s Learning and Development and a Distinction level Postgraduate Diploma in Play and Creative Arts Therapy. She has undertaken further specialist training in developmental trauma, attachment and relational practice, including Level 2 training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).
Her particular areas of expertise include developmental trauma and attachment, child development, neurodivergence, PACE-informed practice and parent / family support.
Jools is a registered member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK) and is listed on the Play Therapy Register. Her approach is holistic and integrative and developmentally informed, recognising the interaction between relationships, past experiences, sensory processing, emotional regulation, communication and behaviour.
As an adoptive parent of neurodivergent children, Jools brings lived experience of supporting complex needs and the wider impact of trauma on children, family and school life. This shapes her empathetic approach and commitment to holistic, relationship-based provision.
