Specialist SEND provision at Robin Hill Country Park

Sense Inclusion provides Therapeutic Alternative Provision for children and young people aged 5–25 who require a specialist, low-arousal and individualised approach to engagement, development and education.

Based at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight, our provision combines therapeutic SEMH support, education, sensory and physical intervention, mentoring, outdoor learning and opportunities for social development.

We seek to understand what is preventing successful engagement with education and provide targeted intervention around those barriers.

Who Is Our Provision For?

Our Therapeutic Alternative Provision supports children and young people who require a more specialist and flexible approach to accessing education.

It may be appropriate where a child or young person:

  • Is struggling to access or remain within education
  • Requires a smaller, lower-arousal environment
  • Experiences significant anxiety or dysregulation around education
  • Requires individualised or therapeutic SEMH intervention
  • Needs support to rebuild engagement, confidence and relationships
  • Requires targeted intervention linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Is working towards reintegration or transition
  • Requires specialist intervention as part of a wider EOTAS package
We recognise that successful engagement may need to begin with regulation, relationships and trust before formal learning can develop.

How Our Provision Works

Every child and young person starts from a different place.

Some may initially require individual support to establish relationships, regulation and engagement before they are ready to participate alongside others. Others may be ready to access carefully planned small-group provision.

Groups are organised around compatibility, developmental need and intended outcomes rather than chronological age alone.

Our initial focus may include:

  • Building safe and trusting relationships
  • Supporting emotional and sensory regulation
  • Developing confidence and self-esteem
  • Increasing engagement and participation
  • Developing communication and relationships
  • Establishing positive experiences of learning
  • Building independence
  • Gradually increasing tolerance of group and educational environments
