Safeguarding & Safer Practice

Safeguarding is central to everything we do. Many of the children and young people we support have complex needs and may be particularly vulnerable, so we maintain clear systems for safeguarding, safer recruitment, staff training, reporting, risk management and professional oversight.

Our safeguarding arrangements are aligned with the principles and expectations of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2026) and are developed with reference to the Department for Education’s Voluntary National Standards for Non-School Alternative Provision.

All staff are expected to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and follow our safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Commissioners are provided with relevant safeguarding and compliance information to support their own due diligence and oversight of placements.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and remains at the heart of our practice.

Our safeguarding arrangements include:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSL structure
  • Enhanced DBS checks for relevant staff
  • Safer recruitment procedures
  • Regular safeguarding training and updates
  • Individual risk assessment and risk management
  • Clear safeguarding, child protection and whistleblowing procedures
  • Appropriate information sharing and recording
  • Attendance and engagement monitoring
  • Clear reporting and escalation processes
