Jools is one of the founding volunteer board directors of Sense Inclusion. She is our Director of Therapeutic Services and Certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist. She has over 20 years professional experience of working with children, young people and their families both within educational settings and therapeutic services.
Before training to support the therapeutic needs of children and their families, her career began in early childhood education where she had a particular interest SEN and neurodivergence, achieving a First Class BA Hons degree in Children's Learning and Development / Childhood Studies.
As Jools' career progressed, she achieved a PGDip in Play and Creative Arts Therapy and gained a Level 2 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Jools now specialises in child development, trauma and attachment. She has begun training in Sensory Attachment Interventions and is hoping to begin a BPS accredited doctorate in the near future.
Jools is also a certified beach school practitioner, certified sensory fitness coach, therapy dog handler, has specialist training in Developmental Trauma and is a mental health first aider.
Through combining her varied training and experience, Jools is able to take a holistic view of a child or young person and tailor therapeutic support to meet their individual needs.
Jools is a registered member of PTUK (Play Therapy UK) who are accredited by the PSA (Professional Standards Authority). She receives regular robust clinical supervision and can be found on the play therapy register at http://playtherapyregister.org.uk
Alongside her professional experience, Jools also has personal experience of children and young people with complex and challenging needs, meaning she is able to support families with deep empathy and understanding.
